International Summer School, Jamia University

Pallavan has partnered with Ritinjali and the International Summer School (ISS) of Jamia Milia Uniersity, New Delhi. The International Summer School (ISS) is an intensive academic programme that brings together students from all over the world. They study and interact with one another over the course of a summer in New Delhi, India to promote international goodwill and cultural understanding. They also learn about India and its role in the twenty first century.

Each summer, a team of 20-30 student volunteers from ISS visit Pallavan Jhalawar for two weeks.

Each day commence with ISS students volunteering in different activities or initiatives they are passionate about. Classrooms and courtyards are abuzz with myriad events: mini Olympics, classes in basic Japanese, self-reflective painting, English vocabulary, career counseling, motivation sessions. Learning through sports/games, theatre, and art also seemed to be important focus areas for the volunteers.

To add to their knowledge of the governance, industry, society, and culture of Jhalawar, students are given the opportunity each day to visit places and people of interest, in and around the town. An evening walk around Jhalawar is also organised to give students a multi-sensorial experience of the town’s cultural and social life, landscape, architecture, and people

This is a great cross cultural learning for the students of Pallavan, government schools and the community.
